Wang Wei (701-761), courtesy name Mojie, was a famous poet in the heyday of the Tang Dynasty. "Farewell to Yuan Er on his Mission to Anxi" was written by Wang Wei on the bank of the Wei River to see his close friend Yuan Er off through Yangguan to take up his post in the Anxi Protectorate. "The morning rain in Weicheng moistened the dust, the green willows in the guest house are new, I urge you to drink another cup of wine, there will be no old friends when you go west of Yangguan." This poem was composed into Yuefu in the Tang Dynasty, and the first two words of the poem were used as the title "Weicheng Qu". Because it was sung three times starting from the third sentence, it was also called "Yangguan Sandie" or "Yangguan Qu". As the saying goes, "Poetry is famous for the pass, and the pass is more glorious for poetry". The song Yangguan Sandie expresses the feelings of parting with friends and the reluctance to part. It has become a masterpiece through the ages, and has been chanted by later generations, making Dunhuang Yangguan the spiritual hometown of the Chinese people.
