Princess Jieyou

【Princess Jieyou】(about 121 BC-49 BC) surnamed Liu and given name Jieyou, granddaughter of Liu Wu, King of Chu in the Western Han Dynasty. After Princess Wusun died, Emperor Wu made Jieyou a princess again and married her to Cen Zou. After Cen Zou died, his son Nimi, born to his wife from the Xiongnu tribe, was still young, so the throne was passed to his cousin Weng Guimi. After Weng Guimi succeeded to the throne, he married Princess Jieyou again and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. In the second year of Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty (72 BC), the Han Dynasty sent Chang Hui to Wusun. Princess Jieyou and Weng Guimi jointly wrote to Emperor Xuan, saying that the Xiongnu had repeatedly invaded Wusun and occupied Wusun's Cheyan and Eshi lands, and asked the Han Dynasty to send troops to rescue. Wusun was also willing to send 50,000 cavalry to attack the Xiongnu. After Emperor Xuan received the report, he mobilized 150,000 troops and sent five generals including Tian Guangming and Zhao Chongguo to attack separately. Wusun King Weng Guimi led his own troops to attack the Xiongnu Youguli King's pasture from the west. In this battle, the Wusun army won a great victory and dealt a heavy blow to the Xiongnu. After Weng Guimi died, Cen Zou's son Nimi succeeded him and was called "Kuang Wang". After "Kuang Wang" succeeded to the throne, he married Jieyou. Jieyou and Kuang Wang had a bad relationship and conspired with Han Dynasty envoys Wei Heyi and Ren Chang to assassinate Kuang Wang, but failed. In the third year of Ganlu (51 BC), he returned to Chang'an because of his old age and homesickness. He died at the age of 72.
