【Su Wu】(?~60 BC) was born in Du County, Jingzhao (now southeast of Xi'an, Shaanxi) in the Western Han Dynasty. His courtesy name was Ziqing. He was initially appointed as a palace attendant of Emperor Wu of Han, and later promoted to the position of Yizhong stable supervisor, in charge of the emperor's stables. In the first year of Tianhan (100 BC), Emperor Wu of Han appointed him as the General of the Central Army and sent him as an envoy to the Xiongnu. Later, he was detained by the Xiongnu for some reason. The Xiongnu leader Qidihou threatened him in many ways to surrender, and exiled him to the North Sea (now Lake Baikal) to herd sheep, claiming that he would not be released until the rams gave birth to lambs. He held the "Han Festival" and persisted for 19 years without yielding. In the sixth year of the Yuanshi period (81 BC), he was allowed to return to his country because the Xiongnu and the Han made peace. Emperor Zhao appointed him as the Minister of the State. During the reign of Emperor Xuan, he was granted the title of Guannei Hou. His tomb is located in Longmen Village, 1.5 kilometers north of Wugong County, Shaanxi Province.
