In February 2021, the feasibility study report of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission was approved; on August 16, 2021, the reply letter of consent for implementation from the Cultural Relics Protection Center was obtained; on September 2, 2021, the reply letter from the Dunhuang Branch of the Jiuquan Ecological Bureau on the environmental impact assessment procedures was obtained;

The infrastructure improvement project of Yumenguan Scenic Area in the Great Wall National Cultural Park: On September 7, 2021, the Gansu Provincial Department of Finance issued the "Notice on the First Batch of Provincial Tourism Development Special Funds in 2021", and was approved for 1 million yuan; mainly purchased emergency rescue facilities for the scenic area (including intercoms, sanitary telephones, relay stations, etc.), 2 wooden management rooms, beautification and upgrading of the north gate of the visitor center, and installation of cultural relics protection boundary stakes. As of now, all projects have been fully completed. On February 21, 2022, a reply letter of consent for implementation was obtained from the Cultural Relics Protection Center; on March 31, 2022, the approval of the implementation plan was obtained from the Dunhuang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Film and Television and Tourism; on March 31, 2022, the deputy mayor in charge of the municipal government approved the project implementation plan and started implementation. 2021In 2018, Yumenguan Scenic Area excavated and promoted the culture of the scenic area and created a special cultural performance of "Duwei Welcoming Guests". An iron relief of "Silk Road" was made at the entrance, a poetry and culture wall of the visitor center was built, and the "Silk Road Landscape Map" was arranged. 2023In July 2017, the Yumenguan Site Protection and Utilization Facility Construction Project in Jiuquan City was located in the Yumenguan Site in Dunhuang City. The total investment was 102.47 million yuan, of which 80 million yuan of central budget funds have been in place, and 22.47 million yuan of local fiscal matching funds. It mainly involves the construction of 18 kilometers of internal inspection and display roads for the Dunhuang Han Great Wall, 5 supporting parking bays, totaling 2,175 square meters; 2 new protection and emergency management rooms, each 500 square meters; 3 new battery car parking lots, totaling 10,420 square meters; 3 new toilets, totaling 582 square meters; 8 new sheds, totaling 687.5 square meters; 170 signs and interpretation systems were improved; and 20 kilometers of new site fences were built. A comprehensive digital system will be built, a digital archive will be established, to provide a reliable basis for the protection and management of cultural relics, and a comprehensive digital display platform will be built through the Internet and other technologies in combination with emerging multimedia technologies. 7On May 25, UNESCO World Geopark Assessment Experts conducted a systematic and detailed investigation of the Yumenguan Site of Dunhuang World Geopark. Dunhuang World Geopark consists of Yadan, West Lake Wetland, Yumenguan, Yangguan, Crescent Moon Lake in Mingsha Mountain, Mogao Grottoes and other areas. According to UNESCO regulations, the assessment of World Geopark is conducted every four years. The project strived for 200,000 yuan of 3A-level scenic area creation reward funds issued by the Jiuquan Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau. It mainly installed a 30-ton water storage tank and replaced 900 boundary stakes along the scenic area. The World Geopark Signage Production and Installation Project of the Yumenguan Scenic Area in Dunhuang City was completed. The project strived for 69,000 yuan of special funds from the World Geopark, mainly replacing and adding 233 signs. We have built a trade union position and an outdoor laborer station, and actively sought 40,000 yuan in funds from the Federation of Trade Unions to purchase fitness and medical facilities such as billiard tables, ping-pong tables, badminton nets, and electronic blood pressure monitors. We have also purchased service facilities such as air conditioners, water dispensers, newspapers, and rest seats. We have completed the project of purchasing power guarantee equipment for the Yumenguan Scenic Area. With the strong support of the Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government and Finance Bureau, we have obtained 280,000 yuan in funds, mainly to purchase 16-kilowatt photovoltaic panels to solve the problem of aging and insufficient power supply of photovoltaic panels in Hecang City and the Han Great Wall. The construction is now complete. We have completed the internal road maintenance and renovation project of the Yumenguan Ruins Scenic Area. The project has obtained 100,000 yuan in reward and subsidy funds from the Dunhuang Cultural Tourism Industry, focusing on the maintenance and renovation of the 500 cubic meters of gravel road leading to the Han Great Wall in the scenic area. We have completed the World Geopark Re-Assessment Scenic Area Smart Informatization Improvement Project. The project has obtained 75,000 yuan in special funds from the World Geopark to upgrade the access control system of the scenic area. Through the implementation of the above projects, the level of infrastructure and security facilities in the scenic area has been effectively improved, the safety of cultural relics has been ensured, and the tourists' travel experience and employees' working conditions have been improved.
